There are natural pest control options for both indoor and outdoor plants that can help keep pests at bay without resorting to chemical pesticides.
Neem Oil: effective against aphids, mealybugs, spider mites, and scale insects. It disrupts insects' hormonal balance and acts as a repellent.
Insecticidal Soap: effective against soft-bodied insects like aphids, spider mites, and whiteflies. It works by disrupting the insect's cell membranes, causing them to dehydrate and die.
Diatomaceous Earth: a natural powder made from fossilized remains of diatoms. It can be sprinkled around plants to control pests like ants, cockroaches, and slugs.

I know that this has been key to their health and well-being and I credit this to Chlorella. ]]>This is a great question! We have moms at Wuji and customers who consumed Chlorella before, during, and continued after pregnancy. Here is a personal experience from one of our customers:
"I am personally a new mom of a 3 and a 1.5 year old. In my experience, I consumed Chlorella tablets with water (for the convenience), before, throughout both pregnancies, and after. Chlorella during both my pregnancies was amazing. I rarely experienced any of the usual constipation symptoms that typically occur during pregnancies. Compared to many of my mommy friends, who were also pregnant around the same time, I hardly got sick or had any cold like symptoms. After pregnancy, I still take Chlorella and I even offer Chlorella & Spirulina Water (I use the powder in their water) to my kiddos daily.

Studies in Japan found that supplementation with Chlorella pyrenoidosa (Sun Chlorella A tablets, Sun Chlorella Corp., Kyoto, Japan) during pregnancy decreased the amount of dioxins and increased the concentration of immunoglobulin A in breastmilk.[1,2]
Ten healthy women took 2 grams of dried Chlorella powder in a tablet formulation (Biorinck, Chlorella Industry Co. Ltd.) after each of 3 main meals of the day, beginning at 16 to 20 weeks of pregnancy and continuing until delivery. Tablets contained lutein 270 mg, beta-carotene 90 mg, zeaxanthin 30 mg, alpha-carotene 7 mg, vitamin K1 (phylloquinone, phytonadione) 3 mg, and chlorophylls 3.2 grams per 100 grams, in addition to numerous vitamins and minerals. Compared to 10 pregnant women who took no Chlorella, the breastmilk of the treated women contained significantly more beta-carotene (1.7-fold higher) and lutein (2.7-fold higher), zeaxanthin (2.6-fold higher) in the first 6 days postpartum. No differences were found in the breastmilk content of beta-cryptoxanthin, alpha-carotene, or lycopene between groups.[3]
Three days before delivery, a mother replaced her normal iron supplement with blue-green algae complex (blue-green algae, Chlorella, and spirulina; Ambrosia-SupHerb Ltd., Israel) 750 mg once daily. On the second day after delivery she expressed 30 mL of dark green milk. No abnormal milk cytology was found and a microbiologic culture was negative. After stopping the supplement, her milk returned to a normal color over the next 3 days. The change in color was probably caused by the algae supplement.[4]

Breast milk carotenoids provide neonates with a source of vitamin A and potentially, oxidative stress protection and other health benefits. Chlorella, which has high levels of carotenoids such as lutein, zeaxanthin and β-carotene, is an effective dietary source of carotenoids for humans. In this study, the effect of maternal supplementation with Chlorella on carotenoid levels in breast milk at early lactation was investigated. Ten healthy, pregnant women received 6 g of Chlorella daily from gestational week 16-20 until the day of delivery (Chlorella group); ten others did not (control group). Among the carotenoids detected in breast milk, lutein, zeaxanthin and β-carotene concentrations in the Chlorella group were 2.6-fold (p = 0.001), 2.7-fold (p = 0.001) and 1.7-fold (p = 0.049) higher, respectively, than those in the control group. Our study shows that Chlorella intake during pregnancy is effective in improving the carotenoid status of breast milk at early lactation.

Pregnancy anemia and pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH) are common and potentially dangerous disorder in human pregnancy, and nutritional status of pregnant women is one of the leading causes. Chlorella contains large quantities of folate, vitamin B-12 and iron, and can help improve anemia and hypertensive disorder. Our objective was to investigate the preventive effects of Chlorella supplement on pregnancy anemia and PIH in Japanese pregnant women. A total of 70 pregnant women were placed into the control group (n = 38) or the Chlorella group (n = 32). The subjects in the Chlorella group were supplemented daily from 12th-18th wk of gestation until delivery with 6 g of Chlorella supplement. The proportion of anemic (hemoglobin level < 11 g/dL) subjects in the Chlorella group were significantly lower compared with the control group at the second and third trimesters. Additionally, in the Chlorella group, the incidences of proteinuria and edema, signs of PIH, were significantly lower during the third trimester. These results suggest that Chlorella supplementation significantly reduces the risk of pregnancy associated anemia, proteinuria and edema. Chlorella supplement may be useful as a resource of natural folate, vitamin B-12 and iron for pregnant women.

Dioxins can be transferred from mother to fetus via the placenta, or to nursing infants via breast milk, potentially causing developmental health problems in children. To assess pediatric health risks from dioxins, exposure of mothers and children to dioxins must be clarified. Methods of reducing maternal transfer of dioxins should also be investigated. Concentrations of 28 dioxin (polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins, polychlorinated dibenzofurans, and co-planar polychlorinated biphenyls) congeners in blood, adipose tissue, breast milk, cord blood and placenta collected from 44 pregnant Japanese women were measured. In addition, to investigate potential reductions in maternal transfer of dioxins, 23 pregnant women were instructed to take Chlorella pyrenoidosa supplements during pregnancy. Correlations were observed between dioxin total toxic equivalents (total TEQ) in blood and total TEQ in adipose tissue (r=0.913, P<0.0001), breast milk (r=0.695, P=0.0007), and cord blood (r=0.759, P<0.0001). Dioxin levels transferred to fetuses and nursing infants reflect cumulative maternal concentrations of dioxins. A linear regression equation was introduced to predict total TEQ in breast milk and cord blood from dioxin levels in maternal blood, which should prove useful in evaluating fetal and infant risk of dioxin exposure. Total TEQ in cord blood were approximately 26% lower than in maternal blood (P<0.0001). The results of this study suggest that transplacental transfer differs depending on the dioxin congener. Total TEQ in breast milk were approximately 30% lower in the Chlorella group than in controls (P=0.0113). This finding suggests that maternal transfer of dioxins can be reduced using dietary measures such as Chlorella supplements

GLA is converted by the body into substances that fight inflammation and cell damage. It has had a positive effect on many chronic diseases of modern society, inÂcluding: cancer, diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, Alzheimer's disease, etc.
GLA has also been used as a dietary supplement for the treatment of various health problems that root in inflammation.
Our bodies don't naturally produce GLA so it's important to absorb this Omega-6 Fatty Acid through FOOD... luckily for you, Wuji knows a GREAT food source that you can conveniently take daily and absorb GLA from! Welcome to the stage, SPIRULINA!!
That's right! Our little green organic miracle tablets (and powder) have a whopping 30 grams of GLA in only ONE serving of Spirulina!

]]>This is where the biggest impact Chlorella can offer you differs from each company.
In the traditional process, most Chlorella supplements you find are only 40-70% digestible while Wujiâs Chlorella can be up to 80% digestible. Thatâs a big difference when weâre talking about nutrients and minerals that our bodies need. Â
Many companies use chemicals, heat or pulverizing with glass beads to break through the cell wall, the problem with this is that while it does break through the cell wall, it also destroys some of the delicate nutrients that Chlorella has â ultimately leaving you with a less nutritious version of Chlorella and not much more digestible.
Wuji uses a special Flash low-Pressure expansion system, which ruptures the cell wall in only 3 seconds revealing numerous pores. During this process nothing comes in contact with Chlorella, making it 100% natural and organic, while also preserving the nutrients in Chlorella, like b12, nucleic acids and beta-carotene, while also making it 80% digestible for our bodies.

]]>There are some stipulations to that though. For example, if you eat an apple with naturally occurring sugar, youâre not only consuming sugar, but also vitamins, minerals, fiber and phytonutrientsâall things that feed our healthy gut bacteria to help our bodies metabolize the sugar that is found in the apple. The problem with processed foods with added sugar is that we donât typically get the added nutrients in those foods and weâre typically eating sugar in its pure formâsomething that weâre not evolved to do.
]]>You may have heard people in your life say that they are âgluten intolerantâ or dairy or soy intolerant. Many people avoid these foods due to inflammation or the health problems they cause, while others feel fine eating them. There is one food however, that is universally inflammatory, sugar. Dr. Heidi Tumer, a medical nutrition therapist who specializes in anti-inflammatory diets to reduce pain and symptoms related to autoimmune conditions and inflammatory arthritis, says that âeveryone is sugar intolerant.â
There are some stipulations to that though.
Dr. Tumer says that the average American typically consumes 94 grams of added sugar per day, which is more than 3 times the daily recommendation for women and almost 8 times more than the daily recommendation for children.
So what is all this added sugar doing to our bodies? A major 2014 study found that eating more than the recommendation of sugar per day can increase your risk of dying from heart disease, even if you go to the gym and eat your greens, it doesnât compensate for the effects sugar has on your health. Diets high in sugar increase inflammation in your body and may cause insulin resistance, both of which increase cancer risk. A study in over 430,000 people found that added sugar consumption was positively associated with an increased risk of esophageal cancer, pleural cancer and cancer of the small intestine. Another study showed that women who consumed cookies and sweet buns more than three times per week were 1.42 times more likely to develop endometrial cancer than women who consumed these foods less than 0.5 times per week.
Often people go to sugar as a âpick-me-upâ but whatâs been found is that men who ate a high sugar diet were more likely to develop depression or anxiety than those who ate a low sugar diet. Researchers believe that blood sugar swings, inflammation and neurotransmitter dysregulation may all be reasons for sugarâs damaging impact on mental health.
Hershey recently released research on which state consumed the most candy and found that Utah residents buy candy at nearly double the national average, the state also has some of the highest rates of depression in the country. Suicide is the leading cause of death in Utah for youth between the ages of 10-17, their suicide rate is more than 60 percent above the national average. Foods high in added sugar quickly spike blood sugar and insulin levels, leading to increased energy. However, this rise in energy levels is fleeting. Products that are loaded with sugar but lacking in protein, fiber or fat lead to a brief energy boost thatâs quickly followed by a sharp drop in blood sugar, often referred to as a crash.
Unfortunately, giving up sugar isnât easy as it is often lurking in food we would least expect it in, from salad dressings to our coffee drinks to sauces and whole grain bread. By 2020, the FDA has required companies to label their nutrition facts to specially show if theyâve added sugar or if the sugar is naturally occurring.
Although consuming small amounts now and then is perfectly healthy, you should try to cut back on sugar whenever possible. Fortunately, simply focusing on eating whole, unprocessed foods automatically decreases the amount of sugar in your diet.
Here are some tips on how to reduce added sugar in your diet:
In addition, keeping a food diary is an excellent way of becoming more aware of the main sources of sugar in your diet. The best way to limit your added sugar intake is to prepare your own healthy meals at home and avoid buying foods and drinks that are high in added sugar.

Do you have a cherished recipe that has been passed down for generations? You know the one, every time you make it your kids all swear itâs their favorite meal, your spouse complements you, your friends and family fight over the leftovers. You may have spent time with your grandma in the kitchen learning how to master her recipe and the magic of how she made it. The phrase âgrandma cookingâ has been coined as the thrifty, delicious, seasonal, and intuitive cooking that nourishes our bodies, and hits the spot without being overly indulgent.
Food experts like Samin Nosrat, author of Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat: Mastering the Art of Good cooking, and Michael Pollan, author of Cooked: A Natural History of Transformation, say that embracing âgrandma cookingâ has a larger importance that goes beyond the nostalgia of the meal. Generations of grandparents, literally cooked from scratch; slaughtering and plucking chickens for soup, growing the tomatoes, onions and garlic for sauce. They got together with their neighbors, making large batches of dumplings or cookies for their communities. By doing this, they not only fueled their bodies with food that nourished them but they also gained wisdom and skills that have been passed down through each generation.
Our conventional food system is now using technology and lab made ingredients to feed us. More than ever, we are now relying on canned convenience food, microwaveable meals and âinstantâ food; losing touch with cookingâs cultural, communal, familial and ecological significances. Beyond that, we are now producing food that is to some, increasingly tasty, but in actuality, decreasingly nutritious. According to a study published in Nature, this is leading to a generation of malnourished people and an epidemic of diseaseânot just in America, but in many first-world countries. While many Americans are eating more than enough calories, we are simultaneously starving ourselves of actual, vital nutrients. Weâve began replacing whole food nutrition with gummy vitamins, and Gender only supplements.
Mike Fenster, M.D., an interventional cardiologist, chef, and author of The Fallacy of the Calorie: Why the Modern Western Diet is Killing Us and How to Stop It said that "these dietary choices directly disrupt our metabolismâin particular, our individual gut microbiomesâand produce a wide range of disabilities and diseases." Fenster goes on to say that âfor starters, this type of diet disrupts the natural sodium-potassium ratio in the body, which is a factor in heart disease. But one of the worst culprits of malnutrition is the lack of fiber in the modern diet. Not only does soluble and insoluble fiber keep us from overeating but, even more important, it's the food eaten by good bacteria that live in our gut.â According to a 2013 study published in Therapeutic Advances in Gastroenterology, having the right balance of healthy gut bacteria builds up the immune system, prevents inflammation, improves mood, protects the heart, and is essential to maintaining a healthy weight. Without enough fiber, the good bacteria in our gut can't survive.
Contrary to popular belief, the best sources of dietary fiber are not in processed "fiber bars," but rather a wide range of plant-based foods. In a new survey conducted by the NIH, researchers found that most people don't realize how much and how quickly this shift in diet affects our health. An alarming 87 percent of Americans don't eat enough fruit and 91 percent of us skip vegetables all together.
So what can we do? Itâs not realistic for someone living in the heart of New York City to grow tomatoes in their apartment, how do we merge the idea of âgrandma cookingâ with the fast pace lifestyle of modern society and what is available to us?
Most importantly, GET YOUR FAMILY INVOLVED. Good food relationships are taught and made into habit. You can continue passing down modern âgrandma cookingâ to your kids and their kids, and their kids, and their kids.

Exercise is better than drugs for treating depression! A study from Duke psychologist James Blumenthal and his team from the October 2000 issue of the journal Psychosomatic Medicine divided 156 people into 3 groups: anti-depression group, exercise group, combination group. The result? The exercise-only improved the most and only the exercise group remained continued to improve over time. Researchers were surprised that the group of patients who took the medication and exercised did not respond as well as those who only exercised. After 16 weeks, patients who only exercised showed statistically significant and comparable improvement relative to those who took anti-depression medication, or those who took the medication and exercised.
After 6 months, only 8 percent of patients in the exercise group had their depression return, while 38 percent of the drug-only group and 31 percent of the exercise-plus-drug group relapsed.
"Simply taking a pill is very passive," he said. "Patients who exercised may have felt a greater sense of mastery over their condition and gained a greater sense of accomplishment. They may have felt more self-confident and competent because they were able to do it themselves and attributed their improvement to their ability to exercise.â James Blumenthal said.Â
Regular exercise eliminates depression in a number of ways, which may include: Releasing feel-good brain chemicals that may ease depression (neurotransmitters, endorphins and endocannabinoids) Reducing immune system chemicals that can worsen depression. Increasing body temperature, which may have calming effects. â Mayo Clinic
In another article from Neuroscience and Biobehavioral Reviews, February 2016 issue, studied what happens within our bodies during and after exercise that might affect and improve our moods. The researchers analyzed 20 past studies in which scientists had obtained blood samples from people with major depression before and after they had exercised. The blood samples indicated that exercise significantly reduced various markers of inflammation and increased levels of many different hormones and other biochemicals that are thought to contribute to brain health.
Â
While exercise a good treatment for depression, we could ask: is depression a result of lack of exercise? While exercise does improve depression - we are not designed for depression, therefore "exercise" is not a treatment â rather⌠exercise is a requirement of health. Exercise is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle.
]]>One of the best ways to prevent any type of illness is to build up your immune system. But how can you do that?
]]>Â
What can you do to avoid or reduce symptoms of the flu?
The "Flu Season" is upon us. Although it is recommended to avoid large crowds and to engage in frequent hand washing, there are a few more things that can be done to help your body and immune system fight!
One of the best ways to prevent any type of illness is to build up your immune system. But how can you do that?
Chiropractic
One great way to improve and maintain your immune system is to get regular adjustments with your chiropractor.
Dr. Phillip Shaw D.C. says, âThere is significant research on the connection between the nervous system and the immune system, specifically through the adrenal glands and the hormones and chemicals that relay messages from the nervous system to the cells of the immune system. Chiropractic adjustments remove subluxations, which prevent proper communication in the nervous system. By improving your brain and body connection, you are giving your body the best advantage against a cold or flu.â
Chiropractic as flu prevention may seem like a new idea, but, in fact, chiropractic has been helpful in preventing the flu for a long time. During the 1918 flu pandemic chiropractors found that their patients were surviving the flu at a much higher rate than medical doctors.
According to Family Health Chiropractic, Medical statistics in Davenport, Iowa, detailed 4,953 cases of flu were treated by 50 medical doctors. 274 of those patients perished from the virus. Approximately 150 Chiropractors and Chiropractic students cared for 1,635 patients with the flu; only one death occurred. 9.2 percent of flu cases that sought medical attention died during this terrible season. Only one-fourth of one percent (.0025 percent) of patients receiving Chiropractic adjustments died during the pandemic. Chiropractic patients experienced approximately 1/40th of the death rate experienced by those patients seeking medical intervention!
More recently it was found that, over the course of three years, people who had been under chiropractic care for five years or more had a 200% greater immune competence than those who were not under any sort of chiropractic care.
Nutrition
Another great way to boost your immune system is to make sure you are getting adequate nutrition. It is important for you to get all of the proper vitamins and minerals, and getting them from food. Whole food nutrition trumps supplements almost always.
When you eat real food, such as an orange, you will get the vitamin c you need, but you also are giving your body magnesium, potassium, folate, vitamin B-6, and antioxidants. Your body was created to absorb nutrients from food, and when incorporating a diverse amount of fruits and vegetables your body has the opportunity to get a rainbow of vitamins and minerals.
Â
Some of the most important vitamins for boosting your immune system are:
Vitamin A, which helps regulate the immune system and protects from infections by keeping skin and tissues in the mouth, stomach, intestines and respiratory system healthy. Vitamin A can be found in sweet potatoes, carrots, kale, spinach, red bell peppers, apricots, and eggs.
Vitamin C, which protects you from infection by stimulating the formation of antibodies and boosting immunity. Rich sources of Vitamin C include, oranges, grapefruit and tangerines, red bell pepper, papaya, and strawberries.
Vitamin E, which works as an antioxidant, neutralizes free radicals, and may improve immune function. Get your Vitamin E from sunflower seeds, almonds, hazelnuts, and peanut butter
Zinc, which helps the immune system work properly and may help wounds heal, can be found in lean meat, poultry, seafood, milk, whole grain products, beans, seeds and nuts.
Chlorella and Spirulina are both a convenient way to diversify nutrients in your diet. Wuji tablets may seem like a packaged Vitamin, but the tablets are actually a whole food (100% pure Chlorella and Spirulina) which can provide you with the nutrition you need to stay healthy all year long.
Â
Stress relief
Stress can also be responsible for a lower immune system. Harrison Wein, Ph. D, says,"stress produces a hormone in the body called cortisol. The brain recognizes cortisol as the "fight or flight" hormone, and when it is produced, other body functions are halted until the stressful situation has passed. This is the body's way of taking care of an immediate emergency. The immune system also receives signals to slow down while cortisol does its job. But with chronic stress, however, the immune system stays in low gear, leaving the body vulnerable to infection and disease. Common illnesses brought on or worsened by stress are cardiovascular disease, digestive problems, skin conditions and poor memory function.â
One study shows how long-term stress plays havoc with the immune system, raising the odds of catching a cold. Scientists in the U.S. questioned 176 men and women about difficult experiences they had been through in the past 12 months. Drops of the common cold virus were then dripped into their nose, and scientists checked if they caught the germ. Those who had been under stress were twice as likely to develop a cold.Â
Some great ways to reduce stress are meditation, deep breathing, and exercise.Â

]]>Todayâs generation of children, on average, spend more than 44.5 hours per week in front of a computer, television and/or game screen, often simultaneously. Not only is that time no longer used playing outside and being active (as per past generations) but research has also found a strong association with âjunk foodâ ads and the growing rate of childhood obesity.
A staggering 50% of all ads found on TVÂ are made up by Food Ads, almost completely dominated by unhealthy food products (34% for candy and snacks, 28% for cereal, 10% for fast food, 4% for dairy products 1% for fruit juice and 0% for fruits and vegetables).
Children under the age of 6 donât have the mental development to recognize the difference between programming and advertising and any child under the age of 8 doesnât understand the intent of persuasive advertising. Both these reasonings make the very nature of advertising to children manipulative. With as little as one exposure to a commercial, children have shown to have product preference which only strengthens with repeated exposure.
According to the 2009Â experiment âPriming effects of television food advertising on eating behaviorâ, while watching the same cartoon two groups of kids were exposed to either food advertising or advertising other products. The children who were exposed to food advertising consumed 45% more snacks and foods than the other group.Â
In the UK, 3,348 teens between 11 and 19 were surveyed on their tv and diet habits. The results showed that those that watched three or more hours of commercial TV or streamed content with ads were more than twice (139%) as likely to drink carbonated drinks as those who watched the same amount but without ads or less tv all together. The same teens who watched more commercial TV were also 65% more likely to eat fast food or quick meals.Â
Children between the ages of 8-12 are entering the critical stage of development where they are establishing their own food habits and making more food choices for themselves, while teens are entering the stage of freedom and the ability to purchase their own food. As parents there are few things we can do to help!

Amino Acids are vital to the health and proper function of our bodies. Out of 22 amino acids, our body can only produce some of them naturally, the remaining 9 amino acids (called essential amino acids) we have to get from our diet as our bodies can not manufacture them.
Chlorella contains 8 of the these 9 essential amino acids!! Chlorella is the simple and convenient way to be sure that your body is functioning at it's highest level!!

"Have PATIENCE with everything that remains unsolved in your heart. Try to love the
questions themselves, like locked rooms and like books written in a foreign language. Do not now look for the answers. They cannot now be given to you because you could not live them. It is a question of EXPERIENCING everything. At present you need to LIVE the question. Perhaps you will gradually, without even noticing it, find yourself experiencing the answer, some distant day."
--Rainer Maria Rilke in Letters to a Young Poet
Although so many of us opt for âhealthy fatsâ like olive oil, avocados, chia seeds, coconut oil and nuts, most of us still steer away from any full fat dairy. Without doubt you've heard, or even have said that âdrinking whole milk will make you gain weightâ âonly the non-fat yogurt is goodâ âbutter and cheese are bad for your heart.â According to research, these statements are actually false and could be the cause for declining health! Here are five benefits for choosing FULL FAT dairy:
Â
Although keeping a healthy weight can definitely help with the risk of Type 2 Diabetes, research shows that dairy fat can improve metabolic health. Tufts University did a 15 year study that showed in comparison to those who ate the least fat, those who ate the most fat had a 46 percent lower risk of developing Type 2 diabetes. Dairy fat delays the absorption of dairy sugar and as a result blood sugar rises more slowly over a longer period of time, paralleling the pattern of insulin. When there is less insulin circulating in the body the risk of developing insulin resistance, and therefore diabetes, lowers.
Â
Â
A 2016 published study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that consuming full fat cheese raises healthy HDL cholesterol levels more so than the consumption of low fat cheese. HDL Cholesterol levels are associated with a decreased risk of heart disease. This studyâs conclusion builds on a 2014 review in the Current Nutrition Reports which found that because of the anti-inflammatory properties in some of dairyâs 400 unique fatty acids, fat from milk, cheese and yogurt does not contribute to the development of coronary artery disease.
For those with Lactose intolerance, whole milk and yogurt may be easier to digest as it is lower in lactose compared to low-fat or no-fat dairy. Butyric Acid, a fatty acid found in dairy, has also shown to supply the bowels with cellular energy and promote healthy gut bacteria aiding with the treatment of IBS.
Although Full Fat is better for our health than the alternative, none of this means you should gorge yourself on full-fat dairy. Dr. Mario Kratz, first author of the review and a nutrition scientist at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle says, âwe shouldnât swing the pendulum too far in the other direction and say, âPut butter in everything and eat as much dairy as you wantââ Compared to many foodsâespecially vegetables and fruitâdairy contains no fiber, which is critical for digestion, for how the body manages sugar, and which plays an important role in maintaining a healthy weight.
But if youâre deciding between skim milk and whole milk, the existing research argues you may be better off grabbing the full-fat stuff.

As it turns out he may have been on to something all along.
According to the U.S. National Library of Medicine, Vitamin C heals wounds and forms scar tissue, repairs and maintains cartilage, maintains bones and teeth and forms an important protein used to make skin, tendons, ligaments, and blood vessels. In addition to Vitamin Câs ability to prevent scurvy, Vitamin C has also been found to prevent or improve a wide range of health issues.
]]>Howard Hughes was an American aviator, filmmaker, inventor and business tycoon. He was one of the wealthiest people of his time. Hughes formed the Hughes Aircraft Company, which over the years produced 4 planes and numerous missiles and spacecraft. Hughes was fond of testing out his planes himself and it was said that he was an excellent pilot. However, Hughes went down with his plane on more than a few occasions. His last plane crash left him lucky to be alive.
On July 8th 1946, The Leominster Daily(a local newspaper), had this to say, âHis collarbone and seven ribs broken, his lungs punctured in six places, Howard Hughes was given a fighting chance to live today after crashing an experimental plane into three houses and a garage in Beverly Hills late yesterdayâŚHughes also suffered a broken nose, third degree burns on his hands, and possible skull and left leg fractures in the crash and explosion of his newest plane, the XF-11, unofficially reported to be the fastest long-range craft ever constructed.â
It was said to be a miracle that Hughes survived at all, yet after five weeks in the hospital Hughes walked himself out.
Hughes attributed this remarkable recovery to the gallons of fresh squeezed orange juice that he drank every day while in the hospital.
As it turns out he may have been on to something all along.

In addition to Vitamin Câs ability to prevent scurvy, Vitamin C has also been found to prevent or improve a wide range of health issues.
Also, while it seems that studies on Vitamin Câs ability to cure heart disease are mixed, studies have shown that Vitamin C may be able to slow down the effects of atherosclerosis, and may help protect arteries from damage.
Wound Healing
In Howard Hughesâ case Vitamin Câs ability to heal wounds proved to be the most beneficial.
One study on guinea pigs suggests that supplementing high doses of Vitamin C can aid in wound healing time. Â Another study on rats showed how high doses of Vitamin C can improve capillary leakage in burn wounds.
The power of Vitamin C
Vitamin C is not only responsible for the healing of wounds, but has been shown to speed the recovery of several diseases and improve the symptoms of several conditions.
-Studies have shown that adding Vitamin C to tuberculosis treatment speeds up recovery time.
-In one study of 12 patients with post-surgical diffuse hemorrhage it was found that they all had low levels of ascorbic acid (Vitamin C). Each patient then received 250-1,000 mg daily of Vitamin C. After 24 hours there was no evidence of bleeding in any of the patients.
â A 2014 study of people with high levels of antibodies of Epstein-Barr virus, which has been indicated in chronic fatigue syndrome, showed a significant decrease in those antibodies after at least 5 intravenous doses of Vitamin C.
Oranges are not the only good source of vitamin c
However, none of this means you should sit around only drinking gallons of orange juice, there are a few sources of vitamin c that are even more potent than oranges.
The ultimate form of Vitamin C comes from goji berries which will give you %20 of your daily recommend intake. Order them here
The body is not able to make Vitamin C on its own, and it does not store Vitamin C. It is therefore important to include plenty of Vitamin C-containing foods in your daily diet.
Take a cue from Howard Hughes and start adding more Vitamin C to your diet!

Normally, the definition would just mean that itâs a food thatâs complete; whole, from the Greek, holon, meaning âa single organism.â This would mean that the organism isnât broken down; itâs in the most raw state possible. You grab your veggies from the produce section, fresh, rather than getting them canned or frozen. You are taking veggies, tomato sauce, flour, eggs, all the basic items in their most holistic form, then preparing them yourself to make a pizza, rather than buying one pre-made. Even if the pre-made pizza is Organic or All-Natural or any other label trying to make you think itâs healthy, itâs not a whole food when you get it, so your body wonât respond as well to it
]]>So the first term that needs clarification is that of a âwhole foodâ. We have all heard the term and know that itâs good for us. Somehow. But what exactly makes it good for us? And what exactly constitutes a whole food?
Â
Normally, the definition would just mean that itâs a food thatâs complete; whole, from the Greek, holon, meaning âa single organism.â This would mean that the organism isnât broken down; itâs in the most raw state possible. You grab your veggies from the produce section, fresh, rather than getting them canned or frozen. You are taking veggies, tomato sauce, flour, eggs, all the basic items in their most holistic form, then preparing them yourself to make a pizza, rather than buying one pre-made. Even if the pre-made pizza is Organic or All-Natural or any other label trying to make you think itâs healthy, itâs not a whole food when you get it, so your body wonât respond as well to it
Â
While some may be lax with their definition, I urge you to be more precise: this means that something like almond meal, even though itâs simply just almonds ground up, isnât a whole food because you didnât get the almond whole and unprocessed. Sure, some things you have to concede this particularity: I donât have a flour mill, so I wonât try to make my own gluten-free flours. But at least understand that itâs still not a whole food and you should keep it in moderation.
Â
Now that we have an idea what the operational definition of whole food is, we can investigate why itâs better for us. I want you to take a moment and contemplate the teachings of a very smart man: Charles Darwin. Whether or not you agree with his theories, his main point applies very much to why we should ALL eat way more whole foods than we do.
Â
Humans have been on this earth for many thousands of years. We have adapted to changes in food supply, changes in environment and changes in weather. Thatâs what makes humans so mighty: our adaptability.
Â
Over those thousands of years, our bodies have learned how to stay healthy and how to extract necessary nutrients through the food we were exposed to. In the modern era, scientists started to isolate certain vitamins and nutrients to see how our bodies benefitted from them. This was very good for us because we started to understand how our bodies remained nourished and healthy. The problem is that these same scientists thought that since they could isolate these wonderful vitamins and minerals, they could just inject our bodies with concentrated doses and this would lower the need to eat healthy. We can eat junk and just take some vitamins to balance it out, right? WRONG.
Â
Our bodies donât see vitamin A as a source of nutrition. It sees herbs and vegetables as the source of nutrition. Itâs evolved over the years to see the plants, the WHOLE FOODS, and break it down to get what it needs. It doesnât know that vitamin A in its purest form can be absorbed beneficially; especially if that vitamin A wasnât derived from something natural, but synthetically synthesized. This is why most vitamin supplements that you take end up just wasting your money. You donât feel a difference except for that placebo effect: you feel better because you want to believe itâs helping you feel better. Your body sees most vitamins in their purest form as xenobiotics: foreign substances that it doesnât recognize because your body wasnât the one who broke the food down to get that vitamin. Itâs like if you were used to buying a potato every day. Then one day, you thought you were buying a potato, but instead you got a sack of potato starch. You wouldnât know what to do with it because you wouldnât recognize what it was. No one is inside of your body, directing it with labels and signs to tell it what all these foreign vitamins are. It isnât trained to break that down.
Â
What does all this mean for you? Well, it means that if you are on vitamin supplements that arenât whole foods, more than likely you are wasting your time and money. If you are buying pre-cooked, pre-packaged nonsense, then you arenât providing your body with the nutrients it needs and deserves. Sure, it may take you a little extra time to make dinner, but itâs worth it. Trust me.
Â
A little time out of your day to ensure your health is well worth it. Just think of it this way: is giving yourself diabetes, a heart attack or extreme obesity convenient? Is killing your children slowly with nutrient deprived foods convenient in the long run? Take time to nourish yourself and you will save time in the future going to the doctor, save yourself money by not having medications to take, and save yourself even more time by living longer AND healthier!
]]>Our separation from wellness seems to be proportional to our separation from nature. The further away our food â and our lives are from nature and our natural state, the less healthy and beneficial. Sure, we have come a long way in luxury and convenience. We no longer have to harvest the fields for potatoes or churn our own butter, but if you look at the vast sea of canned-boxed âfoodsâ in the grocery store, we certainly have lost the natural quality. Like tombstones, those processed âfoodsâ stand lifeless.
Alan Watts, philosopher said, âThe ocean waves and the world peoples.â We are nature. And the closer we live to nature, the heathier we will be. We should garden instead of grocery. Eat vegetables instead of muti-vitamins. Create home-cooked meals instead of getting it from a drive-through window. Walk in a park or on a mountain instead of an indoor-gym. While we all appreciate taking a plane instead of a wagon across the great plains, the cost of industry is our health.
Get back to nature. We donât need to live in caves and hunt down our dinner, but surely, we can make better, more natural choices with our foods and our lives.
âAll of the answers to lives questions are found in nature.â The Power Of One.
]]>Human beings are the sickest species on the planet. Chronic illness, obesity, and cancer have all increased in the last 10 years. (1) People are sick and tired of being sick and tired. We are over-scheduled and under-nourished.
We may be more advanced in technology and industry than our ancestors and other species but our fast-paced and fast-food lifestyle has made us ill and exhausted. Every day we are bombarded with new drugs, innovative surgeries, fake-foods, and quick-treatments. So common is this lifestyle, we have television shows about them: Nip and Tuck, Plastic-Surgery-realty shows, Extreme Make-Over series, and the Biggest Loser. And now? We have actors selling us drugs on television. Why? Because a spoon full of celebrity sugar helps the medicine go down.
With âeveryone doing itâ it almost seems normal. But as Henry Miller said, âThere is no salvation in becoming adapted to a world which is crazy.â We have been stripped of our health and are grasping for products, pills, and potions hoping for an answer or a cure. The pharmaceutical industry paved a yellow brick road with prescriptions for âbetter health,â but if we have enough courage to look behind the intimidating pharmaceutical/medical Oz, we would realize we have everything we needed all along to live healthy and well.
We are designed for health. We âpeopledâ ourselves here from a single sperm and egg into moving, breathing, thinking, life manifesting humans in only 40 weeks. Our body sustains, heals and repairs itself. We are designed for LIFE. It is not bad luck, bad genes or bad germs, your health is up to you. To be well we must eat well, move more and think better. We must NOURISH our lives. Living well means making simple choices that create healthier lives. Itâs being present. Being more aware. Itâs reading labels. Itâs skipping the fast food. Itâs taking time to prepare a healthy meal for our childrenâs lunch. As the old adage goes, âIf you donât make time for health â youâll have to make time for sickness.â
Give your body clean food and water, eat whole foods, take chlorella, move around, get adjusted, think positively about your life and the universe. Not only will you survive, but you will fully THRIVE. Shut off the television, toss out the junk food, and give your life REAL NOURISHMENT. Create health and wellness, not sickness and disease. If we stop the commercial noiseâwe would hear our OWN resonating voice of wisdom whisperingâŚ. You can truly live well.
